Video: Can One Be a Social Worker and a Capitalist? Reading Marx’s “Capital” Vol. II With David Harvey
Are social work and capitalism compatible? Or is there something inherent in capitalism itself that necessitates the very antagonisms that we are working to heal? I have collected David Harvey’s lectures on Marx’s Capital and am hoping that others will join me by journeying with him toward answering this question. Moreover, I hope to learn what Marx actually thought and provided, rather than continue to try and discourse with the many anemic representations of his work.
David Harvey is a Distinguished Professor of Anthropology & Geography at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York (CUNY), Director of The Center for Place, Culture and Politics, and author of numerous books. He has been teaching Karl Marx’s Capital for over 40 years. The official website where this course can be found is davidharvey.org.
